Young Voices of Colorado hosts a National children's choral festival every summer, the first annual Sing-A-Mile High.
In 2006, more than 300 singers, representing nine choirs from all across the country, and the Young Voices of Colorado Concert Choir, participated in the four-day event on the University of Denver Campus.
Our guest conductors were Dr. Rollo Dilworth, Director of Choral Programs at North Park University in Chicago, and Dr. Catherine Sailer, Director of Choral Studies at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. Both of the world-renowned conductors worked with the massed choir in rehearsals and performances. Dr. Dilworth, best known for his rhythmic, exciting arrangements of African-American spirituals, arranged Climbin' Up The Mountain, Children, just for our festival. This piece debuted at the final concert on Sunday, July 2nd, 2006 in Gates Hall in the Robert and Judi Newman Center on the University of Denver Campus.
